FY2012 targets and plans ....

Last year 2011 was a very busy year, leaving me with very little time for my own dogs and their training. This new year, I have plans to invest my time training my dogs so that they can realized their best potential. I am putting these down, so that it will help me to keep to my plans.1. Millie is now 4,- Millie is one of my top dog in my household, she seems to be excelling in Obedience and Agility training. Now I have this desire to introduce her to the OB ring and continue her agility career.- She is definitely ready for these competitive activities, however I need to do some fine tuning and she will be a gem.2. Jadie is now 1,- Jadie is in her golden age to start serious training her and one day she will be ready for Obedience and Agility Competitions. Jadie being a shy dog, I need to spend more quality time to build her confident. She is still in her elementary training of basic obedience and agility. 3. Ashley is coming 2,- Ashley is our newer addition. He was my student's dog, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, we have adopted him. Ashley has shown great aptitude in training, he is a great show specimen and a great candidate for Obedience and Agility. I will need to spend time to work out his drive and he will be a force to be reckon.Of course having single out the dogs that I wanted to invest my time and energy, I need to stay fit. The last 3 months, I was unfortunate to have sprained back, and now I'm limping on my right feet. Hopefully I can recover soon and start working on my wonderfully animals.These are my new year resolutions, and that I can spend quality time despite my busy work schedules to train, bond and build a strong partnerships. I always believe the only way to succeed is to train till you and your canine partners read each others like a book.

Good news to share and what a way to end Year 2011 in a high note! Hershey recovering from her ligament torn is looking even far better. She can go for long walks, stand on all legs and can even chase, rough housing with her good friend Jadie. I’m sure, we will see a full recovery SOON.What a way to welcome Year 2012! An interesting Paradox!

Once mentioned by a Motivational Guru; "There are no uninteresting speakers, but only uninterested listeners!" What a strong statement! But it apply to our inner core of our spirit. If you can't even commit a 5 minutes training routine on a daily basis, how can you expect your dogs to reciprocate in giving you attention or even responding to your calls.So start being a good listener, you will be surprise how your dogs will tell you how you can motivate and show you the ways to make them click. We must use this special gift from God to good use and start building a strong bond and good relationship with our animals.All good trainers enjoys a strong and healthy bond with their animals. Touch the Dial!Being humans we are just so predictable. That's why dog and humans are the best of pal for century. Have you seen how often a dog dictate how he or she wants to owner to react? It's no longer this close relationship and our bond with this unique specie runs over many years and till today, both Dog and Man are still inseparable. However in term of training, good handlers and trainers are always touching the dial. For example if you are always listening to one station on radio, what you hear and what you eventually believe are often than not is what you hear and believed. Why not let's us touch the dial, change the channels, stretch our limit, discover the horizon and work out of our comfort zone? Our dogs need us to lead them into greater heights, learning more skills and it's dependent on us as human leaders, where we can lead the change, modified the changes, stretch our limit. So let's touch the dial and start experiencing the World of Great Difference, if only we Touch the Dial!Happy Training! Have fun & stay positive!

Traffic Update for 2011 Cynosport World GamesA bridge closure may impact Cynosport travel.If you are coming to Louisville for the Cynosport World Games from the west via I-64, please note that the I-64 bridge, which crosses the Ohio River from New Albany, Indiana, has been closed indefinitely due to structural cracks. This may particularly affect competitors with motel reservations in or west of New Albany. The bridge closure will cause a significant traffic slowdown as commuters are rerouted. The Indiana Department of Transportation estimates that it will take three weeks just to do the testing and analysis of the bridge with repairs to follow.Competitors that will be travelling through this area should keep watch on this situation. LOCAL AGILITY SHOWS ON 3 SEPTEMBER 2011!

This Agility Shows all PUPSters came out and flood the West Coast Park Dog Run with the SEA OF RED! See the pictures above showing our new CRAZYK9 logo which symbolizes LOVE, LOYALTY, TRUST, BOND and SPORTSMANSHIP among our PUPSters and their K9 Partners.

We are very proud instructors of PUPSters and our Positive Warriors all came out and put forward their brilliant performances. Our Positive Warriors are Blossom & Ann, Vidya & YuLin, Hope & Nicole, Sky, Toby & Gillian and Millie, Ashley & Debra.

Even though I started my morning with very bad sore back and I have to be carried away by an ambulance. All PUPSters remain claim, collected and with great fighting spirit and the love for their dogs, put forward a brave fight. I am especially proud because from this agility shows, I can witness great improvement in all students, in movement, flows, direction, intends and controls. You must be very proud that you and your dogs have displayed great performances this time round.

Of course, we must recognized our winners; SKY & GILLAIN won a Qed and a 2nd Place in the Maxi-Novice Agility Class and VIDYA & YULIN won a Qed and a 2nd Place in the Mini-Novice Agility Class. Both Gillian and YuLin had their first CLEAN RUN in SKC and their K9 Partners SKY & VIDYA have live up to their expectations. Great job TEAM!

Not forgetting our great supporters, Lynn Tan, Bernie Oh, Kamal, Edmund took their time to wear RED and came with their great supports. Especially when I was trapped to my chair, I was indeed very well entertained by this group of great people.

Let's continue to work hard and you will reap better results from your very own hardwork and fun training your k9 partners.

Great DogSport Weekend @7 Aug 2011

Sunday started off with a heavy morning rain. For those who do not have outdoor activity were very please with the rain and all stayed indoor to catch up with their sleep and rest. But for those of us who have outdoor activity such as Agility, were praying for the rain to stop. The weather continue to rain until about 2.30pm, and the sun came out and bring us hope.

In the evening we have Sky, Toby and Gillian and Bailey, Ken and Cheryl. The first group started at 4pm, we were drilling on movement, flow and intends. With Gillian focusing more on her motion, flow and intends, Sky and Toby read her like a book, keeping all bars up and making an excellent flow and motion on course. Even the youngster Toby is running up to 6 obstacles and keeping all bars up.

The second group came at 5pm, Bailey and Ken need some warm-up exercise to get Bailey up to speed. Bailey were giving great attention after a good warm-up games of tugs, play and treats. Bailey and Ken have improved tremendously, the motion, flow and intends given helps Bailey to quickly understand Ken's motion, direction and intention. Bailey now can jumps up to 6 obstacles such as Open Tunnel, Jumps and Pause Table. Crosses such as front-cross, post-turn, tandem turn, push and pull strategy building up Bailey agility vocabulary.

Marvelous training, excellent execution, motion, direction, flow and intend build up the team confidence in handling agility obstacles. We all had fun and as we stay positive, our training will continue to improve.

Wet & Adventurous Walk!

This morning I took Ashley for long walk. Trying to build bond so I brought him to a wet and adventurous walk. We clocked 1 hour 26 minutes and 41 sec, all drenched and soaked through skin for both dog and man. Our adventure path brought us through Seletar Camp, Jalan Kayu to Seng Kang Riverside Park. After going through the crowded Jalan Kayu, the long stretch of road towards Seng Kang was a very scenic one. Lots of trees, wildlife, fresh air and loads of hills to bring us to the nature.

Along the walks, there were many opportunity to practice on-lead and off-lead exercises. Once we reaches the riverside park, we went to the other side of the park where there is a connector connecting park users to the wetlands. The beautifully constructed bridge suspending over the Punggol Reservoir. I saw a pair of about 1.5 Meter long Monitor Lizards swimming in the wetlands and look like they are on the hunt. What a rare sight to see Monitor Lizards? As we pushes on on the connector, we were confronted by a very brave small poodle barking and charging towards us. And poor Ashley fled for his life. But I managed to coax Ashley to follow me passes the poodle and we continue our wet walk.

On our returning journey, I did some steep hill climbing opportunity, Ashley and me passed the climb with flying colors! We took a different routes back and we were treated with another amazing scenic walk. A very enjoyable and satisfying walk and I would definitely do another similar walk in the near future.

Great DogSport Weekend@ 6 AUG 2011!

A much needed weekend break for me. I was down by a bad flu at the beginning of the week. Took 2 days MC to rest and very please to recover by Friday. Most of my colleagues were heading for a Super long weekend. But I can't as I have a lots of issue to be resolve on this coming Monday.

This morning, Saturday, 6 August, the weather was great. We have a new comer; Herbie and Edmund. Actually there are not NEW, but decided to comeback to Agility Training after a very long 2 years break. Not only Herbie, Edmund is also coming back with Sundae. (Herbie - BC and Sundae - Corgi) Herbie and Edmund had a go a number of jumping sequences, this week we are using the letter Y as a training alphabet drills. Herbie is quick on course but he has mature and no longer behaving as a youngster running aimlessly and tirelessly. We will be focusing back on basic jumping skill and getting Herbie to focus on jumping properly, a good taking off plane and a good landing plane. After a few simple jumping drills, you can see Herbie is back for business and he will only gets better by the day.

We also have Vidya & YuLin and Hope & Nicole in this morning training. Both teams had good tries on the letter Y jumping drill. YuLin is working on being consistent, while Nicole is working on getting Hope to speed up on course. Both teams exhibit good flow and handling skills, working on the strength of their dogs and gaining ground in their superior handling skills.

When I was clearing up my yard for this evening agility class, I do notice there were some dark clouds heading towards PUPS DEN, but thank God, the weather hold up and we were given great windy weather this evening. In the evening class, we were greeted by another NEW comer, Aloysius & Dawson. (Dawson - BC) Aloysius trains with us with blaze but due to some injury, he is letting blaze to rest and decided to start working with his youngster Dawson. Dawson's nose was so keen, he can detect one of my girl are on season and he goes for a hunt for her. After a thorough warming up exercises, Dawson finally decided to follow Aloysius in training. Dawson and Aloysius is coming along well, room to improve on their bonds and Aloysius need to bring along various treats to win the heart of dawson during trying times such as training. This team had a good runs, tunnels, jumps and handing on right and left sides, allow this team to flourishes.

Of course, we have Bernie and Yoyo and Ann with Blossom and Milo. Bernie and Yoyo is back after nursing her dislocated elbow during our 9th USDAA Trials 2 weeks ago. This team is back with a bang, sounding their great intend to all triallers! Bernie and Yoyo did very well, great handling and Yoyo's attention have been fixed in following Bernie. This team can a force to reckon with, if they continue to work like they did this evening. Ann had a few go with upsize Milo but he did well, not forgetting his training and definitely has made Ann very proud of her old boy. Ann and Blo also had a blast at the jumping drill exercises, we had a great discussion of their handling options, and with clarity and great intends, this team will be the team to look out for.

All-in- all a very good Saturday training, very productive training session, a few in-depth discussion on handling options, but all for the good of the team.

Training Insights & Dilemma

Training by objective is the key of animal training. Do not attempt to train your animal on a complex behavior. If training is too difficult, your animal may end up giving up in training prematurely.

In training complex behavior, you need to break down into smaller bit and pieces. This is what you call back-chaining. Allowing your animal to understand the final behavior will increase your chances of achieving the final behavior. Always remember to work on positive reinforcement, your animal work better in reward-base training techniques.

On a different note, I am in a dilemma when it comes to trialing. My personal believe is to allow my students take on the Course Designs on their own interruption and understanding of their animal. What's best for them as a team? However, in recent time, I understood that some of my students are actually thinking that I should coach them during or after their walk-through. And guess what? We are seeing positive results.

I think it might not be a problem if I allow my students to understanding the course designs and then offer some practical insights on how I approach these course if I'm running their animals.

Anyway, I am always searching for the better approaches and if the new approach is effect, I shall use it to bring out what's best in the team!

Marvelous Sunday

I enjoyed my marvelous sunday today. After trials, all students wanted a break, and it's also a nice break for me too. Went for brunch in Changi Airport T3 this morning with my sweetie, and we had a good brunch and coffee. Went home to rest for a while before starting my training with Millie and Ashley.

Did some simple jumping exercises, sharpen our bond and execution. For Millie is all about timing, if I can find the rhythm, my execution with Millie will be flawless.

Ashley is getting along smoothly, setting in well in Agility. Did some jumping, tunnel, chute and weave-poles. Maybe his stamina is bad, after a few rounds of workout, he refused to jump on the first jump, but jump all the rest when directed. Poor boy must be tired.

After a good rest, I trained Millie on frisbee too. Rebound, stall, Aubrey, vaults and catches, a good refresher for Millie and me and she is still profusion in the moves.

It's been a long while since I have such a good time to train my own dogs. I will need to squeeze out some time just to do that, so that I can enjoy the training and companion of my dogs.

Brave PUPsterS!

Today we went to our local kennel club show as a bystanders and not a participants. I quite like the feeling, however I will prefer to a participants anytime. We have 3 brave PUPsterS entered this show. They are Gillian and Sky, Nicole and Hope and Anderson and Blossom. Weather is good and all of us enjoyed the shows tremendously.

After a long break, Nicole and Hope are back and this team came back with a bang! Two clean runs in their maxi-novice jumpers class and earned their Jumping Dog Title. Well done Nicole and Hope, great wins with great handling. Anderson is a faithful USDAA scorer and she always have to give up her chances in USDAA Trials as a volunteer so that other participants can enjoy the shows. Thank God for local kennel show, now she can concentrate on her run. Guess what? Anderson and Blossom came in 3rd in the mini-novice jumpers class and this is their first clean run. Well done Ann and Blossom, your hardwork have paid off.

Gillian and Sky also have their good runs, however due to some faults, cause this team their win and placing. Take heart Gillian, continue to work hard, you will see your efforts pays off one day.

This being a great opportunity we brought along Guinness and she has proof her obedience. Guinness is so concentrated on us, she is quick to respond to her recall, distraction and a tempting big field to romp around. She has passed his test with flying color, she socializing well with all dogs and she is ready to enter competition when she is ready to compete.

Thanks to our supporters, Lynn, Yulin, kamal, Alex and Debra. This great support have given our participants strength to do well in the competition.

Great Agility Saturday - 23.07.2011!

Thank God its weekend again. This Saturday, we all have a blast! Started bright early in the morning, Nicole and Hope came to PUPS, The Household of Champions for a last lesson before the local kennel club agility shows.

This team has shown great improvement and this partnership has blossom. Nicole and Hope had some great runs, showing very good composure and skills throughout the runs.

In the evening, we have a few more teams joining for the training. Ann and Blossom, Aloysius and Blaze, Debra and Ashley and Dexter with Millie. The Course Design today, provide the team the opportunities to exhibit good control, added with some difficulties in jumping angles, tunnel, chute, tyre and broad jump.

All team have shown great control, making very good decisions in their respective handling moves. Pacing steady runs after their dogs has proof successful. I think today's runs will give them the confident needed to do well for next saturday agility competition at West Coast Dog Run.

Good luck PUPsterS, but don't forget to have fun with your dog. As always stay positive!

And our president have announced USDAA is sponsoring U$1,000 per team to the 2012 Cynosport World Games, if we can bring a team of 3 dogs & handlers to this World Championships. 9th USDAA Trials Report - 160711!

We are pleased to announce that our USDAA participants have surpassed our target of 50 supporters, thanks to all USDAA participants and those who love this great sport and the fun of doing agility with our beloveth Canine Partners.

Yesterday was our 9th USDAA Sanctioned Trials 2011. We were honour to have Mr. Kenneth Tatsch, our President of USDAA Inc to grace our event. We also have our sponsor Mr. Vincent John and Andy representing CASA FERA from Hong Kong, China and thanks to their generous sponsor of our prizes.

We were blessed with an excellent weather after a scary Saturday whole day rain storm. Miraculously, the weather were beautiful, the ground was fairly dry and we all had a swell day. This 9th USDAA, we were focusing on the full PERFORMANCE TITLING programmes.

We started with Snooker and Gamblers Class. Participants were presented with various challenges and technical difficulties however without forgoing the speed element of the sport, making the dog agility a continuous movement of speed, control and handling.

After our lunch break, we continue with the Pairs Relay, Beat-the-Clock games, the standard agility and the jumpers class. We have progressed tremendously, as we have participants in Performance 2 Standard Agility and Performance 2 and Performance 3 Jumpers Class.

We have in total 18 Qualifications awarded and many went home with our beautiful Medallions from Hong Kong, China, thanks to CASA FERA.

Both our guests from Hong Kong and our President, enjoyed the event and were impressed with the qualities and skills of our participants.

Once again we cannot but appreciate our volunteers of our event; Ann, Bernie, Gail, Catherine, Lynn, Gillian, Alloysius, a BIG THANK to YOU, without you we will NOT have our USDAA Trials.

Last but not lest, we also wanted to thank all participants for always supporting USDAA and this Great Sport of Dog Agility and I'm confident that we can see more growth in this community and let's all work together to see this sport reach another level in Singapore.

The latest 9th USDAA Trials Schedule is now available for download at this official site. Please also take note that, 9th USDAA Trials is a single day event and it's on 16 July 2011, Saturday.

We are attempting to do a LIVE STREAMING for our 9th USDAA Sanctioned Trials this Saturday. So let's keep our fingers crossed. And if all things turn up well, we will be the very FIRST to do LIVE STREAMING on a Agility Competitions in Singapore! Keep watch on this space.

Great Agility Weekend - 2-3 JULY!

Great Agility Weekend - 2-3 July 2011!

A superb weekend of Dog Agility. We started with Hope & Nicole while Yulin is on holidays and Melvin back to Indonesia. For your information, Saturday was humid, hope & nicole were having tough time coping with the heat. However Hope & Nicole were performing very well. Especially in being able to manage the pace of their runs, very well executed crosses such as blind crosses, front crosses and tandem crosses. The team has very good eye on the line of the dog where given them very handy informations to manage, plan and control on their skills to improve their runs.

I have done many agility exercises with Millie and had some good runs. Special attention is given to Dogwalk, Weaveploes, Jumping, Broadjump and various crosses. During one of my run, benji was too excited and he decided to join the run, and I almost collided into him and I fell as I change my course to avoid a head on collision.

Millie was great this weekend, she was slick and performed excellently with her superpace weavepoles, running contacts, her trademark superslick pace jumping through the obstacles effortlessly.

In between agility training, Millie was called into action for some frisbee training. I also went for a good walk with Ashley. During our walk, we were confronted with a very daring Singapore Dog. I tried to pick up 2 stones to throw toward him and not at him to stop him to keep stalking us. By my 3rd attempt to pick up a stone, that street-smart dog, decided to turn-around and continue his journey home.

On Sunday, the weather is better, we were able to train before the sky hold no more at late six plus. Sky, Toby and Gillian had a great time. Starting from Sky, he is very quick and impatient, and Gillian need to be on her toe to be able to spar with Sky at his pace. In today training, Gillian and Sky did well in managing each other pace, skill, attention and commitment. On the other hand, Toby has been excellent. Toby did many cool runs with Gillian in short courses and Toby is showing his class. Keep watch for this team, they will be team to reckon in the future of Dog Agility in Singapore.

All in all a very fruitful and eventful weekend. Can't wait to start training with Millie again. We need to keep working as we prepare for the 9th USDAA International Dog Agility Sanctioned Trials in 2 weeks time. Intro-Game - The-Pacman-Manaic!

This week let’s discuss on our next Intro-game known as The-Pacman-Manaic! This game originates from the old-time pacman game, where the smiley face gets to eat a super bill and turn into a superpower for a limited time period.

In Agility Context, the power pills are two jumps separated by an Open Tunnel. These power pills can be taken in any direction and once it’s taken correctly, the next 3 obstacles that followed, will be awarded 10 fold of the points awarded. And after the 4th obstacle, any obstacle taken will be reverted to the original point system and until the next power bill is taken the 10 folds systems will start again.

The scoring system is 1-3-5 but when you taken the power pills the next 3 obstacles will be 10-30-50. (Depending on the points that are assign to individual obstacle) The time period given to the competitor at 8/10” height class is 55 seconds and 12/16” height class is 50 seconds. The Pause Table will be the end; all competitors need to reach back on the table to stop the clock. The team with the highest score will win the game.

USDAA Games and Intro-Games

USDAA Games are Snooker, Gamblers and Pairs Relay in both Championships Titling and Performance Titling Programmes. All these games require the team to strategize their approaches on the course in order to get the highest points to gain a qualification and win the class.

This upcoming 9th USDAA Sanctioned Trials we are also introducing 2 new intro-games for the new and existing teams who want to have a go at a strategy and mind games. There are the Beat-the-Clock and The-Pacman Manaic Games. Both games will have all obstacles on the ring and you have the choice to take all the obstacles successfully and gain the points that are associated to the particular obstacle.

Beat-the-Clock - Here are the rules of the game;

1. You are given 50-60 seconds to collect as much points as you want,

2. However the points collected are not recognize until you have bank in the point at the Pause Table, (Pause Table is the bank where you deposit your points)

3. Only upon successfully attempts on the obstacle, you will be awarded the points,

4. The team with the highest points win the games,

5. Obstacles can be taken in uni-directions,

6. The starting point is also the Pause Table.

In our 9th USDAA Trials, we are featuring 2 unique Agility Games to let the crowds or those new to agility a platform to compete in a more friendly competition such as Agility Games. Beat the Clock - is a strategic game where handler would need to strategize between gaining more potential points versus securing actual scores to win the game. While Pacman Manaic is strategic game where handler can uses the super 'power pill' segment where points will be multiply by 10 or 20 folders against running down the clock.... very exciting and interesting games for all and at the same time enjoying the top agility contenders in Singapore fighting to put international recognize Agility Titles on their K9 partners and gaining the qualification entitlement to compete in the Cynosport World Games World Championship Event in Kentucky, USA at the end of this year.

A very interesting weather, the whole day has been very cooling, very breezy and it's been a full day Agility Training for our students and me and our very own puppy.

Early in the morning, we kick started agility classes with Vidya & YuLin and Hope & Nicole. Today's challenges are Board Jumps, Weavepoles, Pin-wheels and usual crosses such as front-cross, rear-cross, blind-cross, tandem-turns etc Very good attempts by Vidya and Hope and both went away this morning very satisfied with their own performances.

In the early afternoon, I have a go with my own dogs, Millie, Ashley ..... had a few similar challenges and went away very satisfying with their performances.

In the late evening, we have Melvin with Ashley, Bernie with Yoyo, Ann with Blossom and Aloysius with Blaze. All attempted the similar challenges and all had an excellent runs! Bernie have found a new motivator for Yoyo, and Yo have responded well to this motivator .... hope bernie will make good use of this new found toy. Melvin also found a new motivator for Ashley, and he is responding, very happy with the motivators ..... sometime overly excited.

Not forgetting our old friend Vivien came with her new foster dog Kira. This is Kira first warm-up session and she stack-up to the challenges; jumps, A-frame, Tunnels, Tyre etc ....she seems a natural....

Great Dogsport Weekend!

Last Saturday was an interesting and frustrating day. The morning heavy showers came when we were conducting our agility training. Force to abandon training, but managed to kick some butt before rain stop. Both Vidya and Hope were having a swell time and since they were already wet, owners don't mind them even wet-tier.

The afternoon training slot were better, no rain but weather were hot! Yoyo was on MC, so we have our veteran Milo, Bloosom, Ashley and Blaze. I must tell you that the small dogs were doing great! Blaze and Bloosom were conquering the courses easily. Even our veteran Milo, who won't even bother to attempt the teeter, just within that hour, Milo attempted the teeter twice. He didn't worry much, but was frighten by his owner Anderson's screaming for him to stop in the middle of the obstacle. This was also Melvin and Ashley first lesson, therefore time is needed to build the bond of this team. But I must say, Ashley is already quite good on basic stuff such as tunnels, jumps etc

Sunday were gloomy, the heavy downpour resulted in massive floods in Singapore, such as in Orchard Road. Our hot shopping belt were disrupted by the floods and even on Monday, people are still dealing with the aftermath of the flood. With such heavy rain, Sunday were largely utilized for sleeping...... I slept through the whole afternoon :)

And in the night, both Debra and me went to Sembawang Park for a very nice dinner. Even-though the ambience wasn't great, the meals were value for money. A nice place to take a stroll after a nice dinner.

Hershey Recovery Update!

After 6 weeks from the date where Hershey ruptured his ligament, she is doing extremely well these days. She is still limping but she is learning more on the injured leg. You will need to see it yourself to believe me that you cannot understand estimate a three-legged Border Collie, she is fast man!

Sport Dog Owners Intro to Prescription Medication

Sports dogs work as hard as their human counterparts. They compete in different events which test a dog’s speed, endurance, strength, and intelligence. Nevertheless just like human athletes, sports dogs are susceptible to injury. The most common forms are muscular trigger points, back and neck problems, and cruciate ligament injury.

Although prevention is always better, by maintaining the dog’s health and fitness, sometimes injuries are just unavoidable. And when they do happen, the injured dog must get the most appropriate treatment. These injuries affect a dog’s mobility and may contribute to the early development of dog arthritis.

To treat muscular trigger points, physical therapy and massage will suffice. Neck and back pain can be treated with anti-inflammatory drugs or painkillers. In some cases, surgery may be needed. However, a cruciate ligament injury will require surgery. There are many procedures available to remedy the injury such as extracapsular suture, tibial plateau leveling osteotomy, or tibial tuberosity advancement. It is important that dog owners discuss all available procedures carefully with their veterinarian as there is no one superior procedure; all have their advantages and their drawbacks.

Prescription Medication

For sport dogs, pain is almost an unavoidable hazard of the job. Prescription medicine is an important aspect in the treatment of injuries and in the rehabilitation process after surgery or injury. There are many anti-inflammatory drugs and painkillers available. What is important is choosing the right drug. Efficacy must be balanced with safety. Therefore, a dog’s overall health should always be the top priority.

The following are prescription medications that are commonly used in veterinary medicine:
• NMDA antagonists or neuropathic pain medicines help reduce pain by “calming down” overactive neural pain pathways. Common NMDA antagonists include Gabapentin, Amantadine, Ketamine and Amitryptaline.
• Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs are drugs which inhibit the pro-inflammatory action of COX-enzymes. Nonetheless, they have side effects such blood thinning, renal failure, and gastro-intestinal damage that can be fatal for some dogs.
• Opioids provide stronger pain relief than other prescription painkillers and have very few side effects. They work by decreasing the brain’s awareness of pain. Examples of opiods are Tramadol, Morphine, Fentanyl, Buprenorphine, and Codeine. Most states and countries consider opioids as restricted substances, which make the sale and purchasing of the drug tricky.
• Cortisone is a more potent anti-inflammatory than NSAIDs. It can help to settle “acute on chronic” pain. However, it should rarely be considered as a first option since it can exacerbate bone degeneration. Also, it should not be used for more than two to three times a year.

Forward Momentum!

Last weekends beside the skills of rear cross or back switch, we also did some forward motion or momentum training. This skill is good for new dogs and also the advance dogs. Passion, Toby, and Sky all go through this forward momentum training grip.

Forward momentum skills allow your animals to focus on what is ahead and drive towards it and not so handler focus. You are unable to release the velcro dogs if their keen attention is on you and only you. This is a good problem, but you will need to teach your velcro dogs that sometime you need to focus on what's ahead and keep driving at it. In Agility, some trainers teach the ability to teach your dogs to be both handler and obstacle focus.

Hershey unexpected retirement

Just a few weeks ago, both Deb and myself were dreaming of Hershey debut in our 9th USDAA Sanctioned Trials in late July. Deb have spent so much time training Hershey and she is good and ready for action. Now we have to prematurely retire hershey from Dog Agility.

3 weeks ago, she had raptured her ligament. Thanks to an inconsiderate neighbour, who let their dog out to roam close to my gate and resulted in Hershey charging on their dog one morning. After that she has been limping ever since. Deb brought her to a Vet and was diagnosed of raptured ligament and was recommended surgery. But after reading so much information on the internet, we decided to give hershey more time to recover than to subject her to surgery which might or might not guarantee recovery.

At this moment, our prime concern is her quality of life. She must have the ability to walk, run and jump at a later stage. If by the 8th weeks, she is not making effort to use her injured paw, we will have no choice but to subject her to surgery.

Now, she has progressed from using her injured paw to walk, run, stand, and putting weight on her injured paw. This is very encouraging and we will start brining her to therapy, swimming in heated water to help in her recovery process.

We won't be rushing her back to active activity or training, we will observe thoroughly and see if external helps is require.

Rear Cross or Back Switch!

This week it is the exciting week in WAO (World Agility Open) Championship in England. Our friend Toshi-san and Queen Bee from Japan and Gina O'keefe and borrowed dog from down under will be competing. We will be following very closely on their results.

We are very lucky, even though the weather is hot, at least the haze is not very visible. Our focus this weekends is Rear-Cross or Back Switch. These Rear-Cross exercises allow the dog and handler focus on following objectives;

1. Rear-cross over two jumps,

2. Rear-cross over tire jump,

3. Rear-cross through tunnels,

4. Rear cross to weavepoles,

5. Rear cross to broad jumps.

All the above mentioned objective allow the dog and handler, manage the skill of rear cross and allowing handler to better handle their dog over the designated agility course designs.

Haze is back!

The terrible haze is back. Yesterday morning on my drive to work, the haze has blocked my beautiful views of Singapore. Singapore Flyers, Marina Sands, Marina Barrage, Singapore River and Sky line of Singapore Business district all disappeared into the think cloud of haze.

Last night, even with the heavy downpour, the weather was hot, humid and misty. And you can smell the air of the burning haze. I heard from some of friends in KL, the haze is bad and they are experiencing more hazy problem than us in Singapore.

We will need to take special attention during training this weekends. Poor air quality will affect both the health of our dogs and owners.

It's part of the year where searing heat has set in since last Saturday. Incidentally last Saturday was Singapore 2011 General Election. The heat and the GE 2011 have heighten the weekends and rise the temperature beyond average tolerance.

In this heated season, we need to pay special attention during training. Especially if you have full black or black and white dog. Below are what we should take special attention to;

1. Avoid training during hottest period 11am to 3pm,

2. Avoid training more than 5 - 10 mins per session,

3. Allow your dogs to rest twice the training session,

4. Allow plenty of water available for your dog,

5. If possible wet your dog to cool them down,

6. Allow your dog H2O or thirst quenching drink,

7. Allow longer warming up and warming down session.

If you notice your dog is showing signs of exhaustion, excessive panting, restlessness, please immediately stop training and let your dog rest. Please take care, PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE!

It's been a long time .....

It’s been a long time since I have time to train Jade. This afternoon training was a beautiful experience. Jade now can move into heel position on my left and on my right. She now automatically move into heel position to get her rewards on motion.

At the same time I worked Jade on Agility as well. The Pause Table was my plan. Now she can jump onto the table and adopt a sit position. Of course, my ultimate aim is to get her to take a down position on the table. Jade don’t seems to like to down position, I will have to work on her separately. Open Tunnel was next. Working with Jade to go into the tunnel on her own. Jade did it brilliantly. Now she dashes out with great intensity.

She is such a darling :0

If I have one regret in my life, it will be not spending enough time to train and play with my dogs. I have been lucky to be blessed with so many great dogs. In my memory I had Max and Keesha, each has its unique unsurpassed quality. Due to my commitment, I have spent way too much time training people in Obedience, Agility, Flyball, and Frisbee. As a trainer myself, I will prepare my classes before my students come in for the lessons. I am guilty of not preparing myself with my training objective when training my own dogs. Without proper layout and lesson plans, how can I expect to achieve out of the training programme?

So in this NEW YEAR 2011, I want to devote more of my time to train and bond with my own dogs. I look at my present dogs, I have Benji, Millie and Jade. Being competitive also compel me to work towards my TOP dreams. I wanted to groom our 3^rd National Obedience Champion in Singapore. The 2^nd National Utility Champion (Obedience) in Singapore. I wanted to compete and win TOP 10 ranking at the USDAA Cynosport World Games in 2011!

Having the opportunity to raise some puppies, I can clearly see what the most sort after skills to have; Name Calling, Start line Stay, Left, Right and Close commands. Introduce your puppies its name is essential. If you cannot get your puppy to look at you, you have ZERO chance to get your dog to respond to you. Pairing its name with rewards is a perfect way to add value to its name. I.E. Everytime you call ‘Max’, C/T, pair this for 50-100 repetition, you should get a name to respond instantly. Start-line Stay are often overlook, but I deem it as necessary especially if you need to position yourself way ahead of the obstacle to give you a head start. Teach your dog to touch your guiding hand. Everytime you show your finger, the dog touches C/T, pair it for 5-100 repetition, you dog should understand to head toward your guiding hand and touch it on command. This touch game also get you an opportunity to train your dog restraint as in Stays.

Left and Right cue on commands are handy cue that will equip handlers to get into optimal position to nail the courses. Started at heel position, walk along with a treat, guide your dog to move along side on your left. Swing your right hand(outside arm) toward your dog head and lead your dog to turn away from you, and once completed your dog should have executed a left turn and back on your right side of your position and remember to C/T. Again pair this for 50-100 repetition on both left and right side, your dog should response to your body cue for a left and right time readily.

The last by not least command will be Close command. Training your dog to work close toward your body when ask. Put your dog on sit stay on heel and take a step forward. Provide a close cue for your dog to move into heel position on your right and C/T. Pair this and repeat 50-100 times on both the left and right side. You should use a separate command for left and right side of your body.

With these necessary skills set plus agility foundation training, you will be ready to enrol your dog into Dog Agility Competition. However, please consult your veterinarian for your dog’s health and your trainer for your dog’s readiness for competition.

In our 8th USDAA Sanctioned Trials, we have x1 in 12", x6 in 16", x14 in 22" & x1 in 26" Class. The most competitive class were the 22" and 26" ....... x12 BCs, x4 Shelties, x2 Fox Terriers, x1 JRT, x1 Samoyed, x1 Schnauzer and x1 Whippet......a great variety of breeds in International Agility Competitions.

8th USDAA Sanctioned Trials last Weekends!

Last weekends, Our 8th USDAA International Dog Agility Sanctioned Trials was a blast! Two full days of action-packed activities. We wanted to thank the Judges, Mr Rowel De Guia from the Philippines and Mr Dexter Sim from our home country Singapore, for judging our events.

On Saturday dated 11 September 2010, we had our Championships Titling Events such as Starters Standard Agility, Advanced Standard Agility, Starters Jumpers, Advanced Jumpers and our games such as Starters Gamblers, Starters Pairs Relay & Starters Snookers Classes. And on Sunday dated 12 September 2010, we had our Performance Titling Events and our International Tournament. The Performance Titling Events are P1 Standard Agility, P2 Standard Agility, P1 Jumpers, P2 Jumpers and the Tournaments Classes are Grand Prix of Dog Agility World Championships qualifier and Master Dog Agility Steeplechase World Championships qualifier.

We had a total of 154 runs on Saturday and 58 runs on Sunday. Out of 212 runs, we have 29 that earned a qualification of the classes they enrolled in. What is worth commenting is that we have 2 qualification in Starters Gamblers, 3 qualification in Starters Snooker and 6 qualification in Starters Pairs Relay Classes. We are seeing more qualification in our game section. Traditionally we are strong in the Standard Agility & Jumpers section.

This was the first trials in Singapore that we didn't get wet, both days we were blessed with great weather, well it rain for just 1-2 minutes in both days. All thanks to our God whom we trust. We also wanted to thank all our volunteers, photographers, video-men, competitors and helpers in lending a hand or two to make last weekends trials truly a blast! We all had fun and we look forward to yet another Successful USDAA Sanctioned Trials in the near future.

Our next 9th USDAA Sanctioned Trials will be in March/April 2011. Keep watch on the upcoming event coming your way.

What is Dog Agility & Jumpers?

* Standard, Regular, or Agility: This is a numbered course consisting of (usually) at least one of each of the three primary contact obstacles (not including the crossover) plus jumps, tunnels, and weave poles of various flavors. A novice course might consist of as few as 15 obstacles; a higher-level course might have 22. The dog must negotiate the obstacles in the correct order within the standard course time (SCT).

* Jumpers or Jumping: This numbered course consists primarily of various types of jumps and, depending on the organization, also weave poles and tunnels. Team, Pairs, or Relay: Two or three dog-and-handler teams each execute a portion of a Standard agility course, with the handlers exchanging a baton between sections.

What is Snooker?

Snooker: Loosely based on the billiard game of Snooker. The course has at least three red jumps, each numbered 1, and six other obstacles numbered 2 through 7. The dog accumulates points based on the obstacle's number. This also has two parts, an opening sequence and a closing sequence. In the opening sequence, the dog must complete a 1, then any obstacle numbered 2 to 7, a different 1 and any 2 to 7 obstacle (including the one already performed), and yet another different 1 and another 2-7 obstacle. For example, the dog could perform the red on the left for 1 point, the 7-point obstacle, the red in the middle for 1 point and then the 7-pointer again, then the red on the far side of the course and the 7-pointer one more time, for a total of 24 points in the opening. After successfully completing this, the dog must complete the obstacles 2-7, in order, for an additional possible 27 points. Failure to follow these rules exactly (such as knocking a bar or taking 2 reds in a row) results in the dog and handler being whistled off the course.

Strategy and entertainment value: The dogs might have to negotiate between other obstacles without taking them or make a difficult entry to the obstacle, often combined with a longer distance between the reds and the 7 so that it consumes more time to do the higher-point obstacle in the opening.

We answer your questions about this year's event.

With the 2010 Cynosport World Games taking place in a new location, some competitors have questions about the event. Here are some questions that folks are asking, along with the answers. We will be adding to this article as we receive more questions with answers that might benefit other competitors. Look for an "updated date" in this article's title to let you know if new information has been added.

Q: The information on the website mentions a "finite amount of space" for crating. Is a competitor allowed to rent more than one space?

A: Yes, a competitor can rent more than one space for crating.

Q: Will we be allowed to stack crates?

A: Yes, but only if deemed by us to be safe to do so. Generally, this would be thought to be one crate stacked on top of another one of equal or larger size. Each case considered on its merit.

Q: Are dogs that are not entered allowed to be crated at the event?

A: We have no restrictions on unentered dogs in the crating area this year.

Q: If you are camping on site with an RV, will you need a crating space? In other words, how far away is the camping area from the dog agility rings?

A: That is a personal preference. RV spaces will not be as close to the venue as the crating areas in the hall. The RV slots are in lines perpendicular to the buildings (separated by a service drive and open space; the closest spots are an estimated 100' - 200' from the buildings). Those who are closest may find it convenient, while those farthest away may not. Others may not find even the closest positions to be desirable for walking across the pavement and service drive.

Q: What time will things start on Tuesday?

A: Check-in will begin in the afternoon and there will be a warm-up class in the evening.

Q: What time will the Grand Prix finals begin on Sunday? I don't want to miss anything, but I want to leave earlier enough to make it to work on Monday.

A: There is no way we can pinpoint a start time until at least several days after entries close. We typically start around 1:30pm or 2:00pm with the final program (Veterans, Juniors, and Grand Prix). This normally finishes up around 4:30pm or 5:00pm. Unexpected delays could cause the event to finish much later, though. We normally recommend that flights be booked no earlier than 7:00pm on Sunday in order to allow two hours for transportation, check-in, and security clearance; but, we cannot guarantee anything. If the Grand Prix finals is a "must see" for you (and it's really worth seeing!), then you should consider leaving on Monday or late night on Sunday to avoid rushing.

Q: The Performance form shows Performance Speed Jumping quarterfinals and a fee of $45. There are no PSJ quarters, just semifinals and finals. In years past we've paid the same fee as the Steeplechase semifinalists to enter the PSJ semifinals. Can someone clarify please? Shouldn't it be $36 for the semifinals, like it is for all other semis, not $45?

A: Yes, you are correct. It has been altered on the entry form to reflect the proper name and corrected fee of $36. Please download the corrected entry form. A credit card form has also been posted in the updated test schedule (see last page).

Other Games notes, some repeated from an earlier article on the topic:

* The entry form has been altered to include the credit card form, a definition of "x-pens," and the PSJ class name change and correct fee. Also, the cover page margin was adjusted so that it wil print properly.

*In a recent article on the USDAA News page, it was noted that copies of height cards should not be sent with Cynosport entries. That information is correct and the premium will be adjusted to match.

*Kennel spaces are smaller at the event site than those recent years. We also have a finite amount of space and have to allocate based upon expected attendance. The cost for the building is dramatically higher than what we paid for land and tents in Scottsdale. But, we have worked hard to keep the kennel space rate (and other fees) the same as last year's through other cost containment measures.

*The Cynosport premium states that no X-pens are allowed. To clarify, dogs may not be in an open X-pen; they must be housed in an enclosure consisting of four sides with a top and bottom, both of which are securely affixed to the sides to retain a fixed shape to add more rigidity and stability to the enclosure. While we recognize the desire to have the freedom of movement, we are concerned about each dog's safety. We will continually study and monitor the situation in hopes of making improvements where we can.

*Some competitors have expressed concern about the daily parking fee. Unfortunately, this is exclusively controlled by the Bureau that governs the facility at the Kentucky Expo Center and is a standard charge for all events. For those wanting to get away during the day without possible extra charges for leaving the site and returning, consider staying at the host hotel. Crowne Plaza, which is across the parking lot from the facility, offers a free shuttle service throughout the day. An exclusive USDAA hospitality hall is also available there for socializing in the evenings.

*Tom Kula will collect entries at the Regional in Michigan and overnight them for anyone entered in the show. There are two options for those who may get a bye at that event:

1. The secretary says she will accept a provisional entry in advance for those who want to send it in and possibly do a move-up. To do this, complete the entry form twice, one for each circumstance (getting the bye in Michigan and not getting the bye). Then submit two checks for the appropriate amount on each entry. Finally, notify the Secretary by email by the closing date as to which one to process. That eliminates the extra handling for submitting and obtaining refunds. If paying by credit card, same would apply. Submit two entry forms and two authorization forms for the appropriate amounts. Only one would be processed after the closing date.

2. Wait to submit your entry to Tom Kula at the Michigan regional. But don't forget to get it to Tom before the end of the show!

Long awaited rule changes announced, including tournament changes for 2011 season.

The USDAA Board has released the following approved rule changes effective July 1, 2010, unless otherwise stated -

Weave poles specifications have been expanded to provide for greater tolerance in measure of spacing. It is important to note that existing weave pole sets that meet the 2009 specification will also meet the new specification. Effective immediately, poles shall be set officially at 22" (55cm) spacing when measured center to center, with tolerance in construction permitted of plus or minus 2" (5cm).

The tire jump definitioin has been expanded to permit an option to use a "displaceable" tire under a particular set of specifications stated below:

"Displaceable" shall mean that the tire may be separated or displaced upon impact with forces of no less than 18 pounds (18#). Tires that displace or separate with less force are not permitted.
For such a design, bungees and other flexible cables shall not be used as it would change the dynamics of the "break" force.
The tire components must remain suspended within the frame when separated or displaced so as not to have flying debris that could cause injury to the dog or handler.
When the tire is displaced or separated, a penalty of five standard fault points shall be assessed.
Other designs for displaceable tire jumps may be permitted provided designs are submitted for approval and it can be demonstrated that the designs are both functional under the rules above and safe. Such designs shall be submitted at least six months prior to their intended use. (Submission does not assure approval is forthcoming.)

For the tire jump in general -

Cabling on any tire jump, displaceable or non-displaceable, should not create a web in which a dog could become entangled.
The aperture of the tire shall measure approximately 20" (51cm), within standard tolerances (i.e., plus or minus 1" or 2.54cm). (This specification previously stated the aperture could be between 17" and 20".) To be effective January 1; earlier adoption is encouraged.

Time for a round shall be measured to the point where the dog crosses the finish line following performance of the last obstacle on a course that has a defined sequence (e.g., standard, jumpers, or relay classes), whether timed electronically or manually. (The measure of time was previously not stated in the rule book except with respect to the use of electronic timing; this rule is to establish consistency in measuring time between the two methods.)
Effective for the 2011 and subsequent tournament and/or calendar year -

Title name changes will be made in the Performance Program to more closely align titles between the Championship and Performance Programs (e.g., Performance Dog, Advanced Performance Dog, Master Performance Dog, Performance Dog Champion, etc.) Name changes will be implemented no later than January 1, 2011. Note that class names will remain unchanged (i.e., using levels 1, 2, 3 designations in correlation to Starters, Advanced and Masters levels, respectively). This is to avoid confusion in administration of entries in the classes of the two programs.

A new Veterans Program will be introduced for the primary titling classes. Details will be published on the new Veterans Program by October 1 to allow for class offerings beginning 2011.

The Performance Speed Jumping tournament will introduce Regional Championship classes and a Championship Quarterfinals class in the annual Championship event beginning in the 2011 tournament season (beginning September 13, 2010).

For the 2011 tournament season, a competitor/dog team must qualify in at least two of the three tournaments within a Program (Championship or Performance), in order to advance to the annual Championship event.

Putting rumors to rest......

To enter any tournament at the Cynosport World Games, a dog must have met the qualification requirements for that tournament at the jump height at which it is being entered. There is NO requirement for multiple tournament qualifications in order to enter the event.

Grand Prix, Performance Grand Prix and Steeplechase quarterfinals require two qualifications per the rules posted in the Forms & Documents Library on this site.

Performance Speed Jumping requires two qualifications per the rules also posted on the site.

Team and Performance Versatility Pairs requires just one qualification, and all dogs on a team/pair MUST be qualified as outlined in the rules.

All tournament qualifications are jump height specific, so a Q at 22" does not make the dog eligible to enter any tournament at 26".

7th USDAA International Dog Agility Sanctioned Trials on 17,18 April 2010!

The last trials was an interesting and full of unexpected situations. On 17 April 2010, Saturday was very dramatic. We had a very hot 7 hours where our Judges, helpers, timer, scorers, competitors all cooked, almost like a over walking toasted breads.

We started off with our Championships Titling Programs and all went into a full swing as competitors all geared to conquer their respective classes.

At about 3.30 to 4.00pm, the weather sudden changes, from a Bright day to heavy thunderstorms with lighting. Due to safety of our dogs and competitors, we decided to call-off the competition at 4.00pm. We have to push to the next day for the balance events such as Starter Snooker, Starter Jumpers, Advance Jumpers and Beginners Jumpers.

On the next day, we started at 9.00am sharp and we managed to squeeze all Championships programs, run our Performance programs and our International Tournaments on Sunday. We can also have our Dog Frisbee Competitions for the Single-Disc and the Longest Throw Events. However the heavy rain came again at about 5.30pm and we have to stop our prize presentation.

We have excellent results to report, we have 45 dogs qualified for the Q ribbons. That makes our International Titled Dogs to 17. And we have 8 Teams qualified for the Master Dog Agility Steeplechase World Championships. A very good results to report from us in South East Asia, Singapore.

Our Prize Presentation will be reschedule to sometime these 2-weeks to rewards the winners their prizes and also a BBQ or something to thank all for their continuous support and thanks to the kind sponsor of Rusty's Favourite for making this Prize Presentation Possible.

7th USDAA Trials - Non Titling Events or Games!

After hearing all about the USDAA Sanctioned Trials Events, it's time for us to introduce our Non-titling Events - The Fun Events for Anyone Dare to Take the Challenge! And win some very attractive prizes from our proud Sponsor.

The Fun Events - 2nd Dog Frisbee Competitions 2010!

1. Accuracy Event (Single Disc).
- Our contestants will have to start throwing their frisbee behind a 14m or 15yard line. There will be 2 Judges, one will be the Line Judge and the other will be the Field Judge.
- Every contestants will be given 120sec (2Mins) to throw frisbee as many attempts as possible.
- Contestants are not allow to go the fetch the frisbee, your K9 contestants partner are suspose to Catch and fetch the frisbee back to you.

- There are 3 lines of catchment areas;
1.1) Beyond 18m or 20yard - every successful catch = 1 point, every successful catch in the air = 2 points,
1.2) Beyond 27m or 30yard - every successful catch = 2 point, every successful catch in the air = 3 points,
1.3) Beyond 37m or 40yard - every successful catch = 3 points, every successful catch in the air = 4 points.
(Every successful catch air = 4 paws off the ground)

- And within 120 seconds or 2 minutes, the contestants pair with the highest scoring will be crown Frisbee Champion of the Accuracy Event!

2. Fetch & Catch aka Mini-Distance Event (Longest Throw).
- All contestants will start throwing the frisbee behind a 14m or 15 yard line. There will be 2 Judges, one will be the Line Judge and the other will be the Field Judge.

- Every contestants are given 3 attempts, after 3 tries, the contestant with the longest throw distance recorded will be the winner of the event. A recorded distance will be registered only when a frisbee is successfully captured in the mouth of their K9 partners.

3. Beginners Jumpers Games
- All contestants will be given a REAL-TIME challenge on a titling course design with a qualify Judge.
- This course presents the opportunity for you and your K9 partners matching both your skills with the International Titling Standard.

Starter Relay Class!

STARTER RELAY CLASS!

Starter Relay Class consist of 2 team members, usually consist of participants form the Small & Medium Class (12" & 16") and the Medium & Large Class (22' & 26"). However there are always exception in event where the relay grouping are not in even numbers.

The Relay Class can consists minimum 14 obstacles where the Pause Table are excluded since it is usually used as an exchange baton area. Each Section must include minimum 1 contact obstacle for each dog. This is where the team can strategize who is better in which contact obstacle thus improve the overall timing and the chances to qualify for the title.

In the exchange area, baton are not suppose to drop on the field or being thrown to the other member of the team. Drop or throwing the baton will incur 10 to 20 point faults to be added to the overall timing of the run.

This is a TIME + FAULTS scoring system, therefore the team will the quickest time will win the class. However in order to qualify, you run must be within the stipulated course time.

USDAA uniqueness .....Starter Gamblers Class

Starter Gamblers consists of 2 sections; IE Point Accumulation Section & Gamblers or Jokers Section.

Before you start you need to know the Scoring Systems; usually it is either
1-2-3-5 System or 1-3-5-7 Systems. What it means is that the obstacles on course are tag according to the scoring system.

Section 1 or Point-Accumulation(PA) Segment;
- Usually in this segment you will be given 25,30,35,40,45,50....seconds for your PA,
- in the given timing accumulate as many points as possible,
- you are not allow to take on the Gamblers sequence in running numbers,

Once you hear the whistle.....your Joker or Gamblers Segment commences;
- Usually you are given 12 to 20 seconds to complete the Joker Sequence,
- Joker sequence should consist of more than 3 or 4 obstacle at a mini.distance of 2.7m or more,
- You need to complete all the Joker Sequence before the given time to clock the Joker points.

The Snooker games is like you are given 3 exchange coupons. And in this 'electronic' shop, there are 3 or 4 exchange stations, and you can only exchange the coupon in each exchange station once. Only upon successful exchange you can go to any part of the shop to claim one of your gift.

Part 1 is for the coupon exchange portion;
Part 2 is you need to negotiate through a course from number 2 to 7 without topping any items and you have usually 50 seconds to complete part 1 and 2.

Of course we are taking about Agility, here are the definition;
- The Exchange Station = RED Jump (usually you have 3 or 4 RED Jumps)
- Electronic Shop = Agility Course
- Gift or exchange items = The POINTS tag to each individual obstacle ( 2, 3...to 7 pointers)
- You need negotiate the course in running sequence from No. 2, 3 to 7 to stop the clock.

This is a very interesting game, where handlers must strategies to get the most points they can exchange. The one with the most points win the game.
